UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
February 11, 2014
The Special School Board Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Folkema at 6:00 p.m. in the Rush City High School Conference Room.
Roll Call
Board Members present: Scott Tryon, Stefanie Folkema, Brenda Nessel, Scott Anderson, Matt Perreault, and Teri Umbreit. Board Member(s) absent: None. Others in attendance: Vern Koepp, Superintendent; Brent Stavig, High School Principal; and Melody Tenhoff, Elementary Principal.
Approval of Special School Board Meeting Agenda
Motion #00814 by Tryon seconded by Nessel approving the Special School Board meeting agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Business Matters
Personnel Issues: Board members reviewed the resignation and resignation agreement of John Schmidt, High School Education Teacher. Whereupon, Motion #00914 by Tryon seconded Nessel accepting the resignation and approving the resignation agreement for John Schmidt. Motion carried unanimously.
Make-up Days for 2013-14 Calendar: Board members reviewed Minnesota requirements for instructional days and hours and the number of days missed this school year to date, due to severe weather. It was a consensus among the board to not make up any missed instructional days at this point. Additional discussion resulted in the following motions:
Motion #01014 by Tryon seconded by Nessel, In lieu of making up missed days teachers are expected to map courses using the Eclipse Curriculum Mapping System and to document related work with a plan approved by the principal. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion #01114 by Tryon seconded by Nessel, If additional instructional days are missed April 21st will be the first instructional day added, and June 5th will be the second instructional day added. Motion carried unanimously.
Adjournment
Motion #01214 by Nessel seconded by Anderson adjourning the Special School Board meeting at 6:50 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
