NB basketball boys split schedule

The North Branch boys basketball team fell 78-61 on the road at St. Francis last Thursday, but earned a road win two days later at Hibbing, 65-54. The Vikings are 8-15 overall, 2-9 in the Mississippi 8 Conference and 3-3 in Section 7AAA. Next, North Branch travels to Princeton for a 7:45 p.m. game Saturday, Feb. 22 to close their regular season.

Viking girls drop two, win one at home

The North Branch girls basketball team lost a heartbreaker in overtime last Tuesday at home against Hermantown, 63-61. Two days later, the Vikings beat St. Francis at home, 52-47, before falling to Buffalo, 50-46. North Branch faced Princeton at home Tuesday and next host Chisago Lakes Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7:15 p.m.

The Vikings are 10-11 overall, 2-7 in the Mississippi 8 Conference and 1-3 in Section 7AAA.

Tiger basketball boys defeat East Central

The Rush City boys basketball team hosted East Central last Tuesday, winning 67-35, before hitting the road to face Isle Friday. The Tigers lost 58-46. Rush City faced Onamia Tuesday, and next travel to Mora Friday, Feb. 21, for their last regular-season game at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers are 9-11 overall, 8-7 in the Great River Conference and 3-4 in Section 7AA.

RC girls beat East Central, fall to Isle

The Rush City girls basketball team won on the road against East Central last Tuesday with a final score of 54-45. The Tigers then hosted Isle Friday, where they fell 65-34. Rush City played Onamia Tuesday and next host East Central Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers are 10-7 overall, 8-5 in the Great River Conference and 4-3 in Section 7AA.

Viking wrestlers close team season

The North Branch wrestling team fell in the first round of the Section 7AA championships to Princeton, 48-26, at Chisago Lakes last Tuesday. Next, the Vikings host the section individual championships Friday, Feb. 21- Saturday, Feb. 22. North Branch closed its regular season at 1-15 overall, 0-4 in the Mississippi 8 Conference and 0-5 in section wrestling. Check out next week’s edition of the Post Review for a full season recap.

RC wrestlers stopped during round two

The Rush City/Braham wrestling team closed its regular season during the second round of the Section 7AA tournament. The Tigers beat Virginia, 50-21, during the first round at Virginia last Tuesday, then fell, 67-9, to Grand Rapids on the same day. Next, the Tigers compete in the individual section championships at North Branch Friday, Feb. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 22. The Tigers went 6-6 overall this season, 5-3 in the Great River Conference and 3-2 against section opponents. Check out next week’s edition of the Post Review for a full season recap.

Viking hockey boys face Tigers in sections

The North Branch boys hockey team closed its regular season by falling to St. Michael-Albertville last Thursday, 15-0. The Vikings faced Pine City/Rush City for the first round of the Section 5A tournament Tuesday. The Vikings went 3-21 overall, 0-11 in the Mississippi 8 Conference and 2-8 in section play. The Tigers lost 2-0 to WSFLG last Tuesday, then lost Friday to Eveleth Gilbert, 9-2. The Dragons went 5-19-1 overall, 3-8-1 in the Two Rivers Conference and 2-8 against section opponents.
