We R Able is seeking teachers and presenters for spring and summer program offerings. The organization serves the school districts of Pine City, Rush City, North Branch, and Chisago Lakes, and arranges classes, concerts, recreation, and learning activities in those areas. It provides accessible programs for adults with disabilities ages 14 and up, and the general public.
“If you live in the area and would like to teach a class once a year, or a series of two or three classes, or if you are a musician who would like to perform in the day or evening, let us know, “ Coordinator Valorie Arrowsmith said.
There are a variety of venues and audiences.
We R Able works at building collaborative relationships with other local organizations, so it has offered programs at the Pine City Senior Center and the Rush City Community Center. It has partnered with the North Chisago Historical Society in Rush City and the Vitalize! Studios of Art in Chisago City. Some art and craft classes occur at both the Chisago County Senior Center in North Branch and at the Chisago Lakes High School Art Room. Summer and winter recreation opportunities occur at JJ’s Bowl in North Branch and at the Lent Town
Hall near Stacy.
We R Able clientele have requested cooking classes and musical performances. There is still room on the calendar for presentations on a variety of topics. Past themes have focused on wild birds, acupressure and massage, gluten free meals, local transportation, bookmaking, “Dance from your chair,” art exhibits, and mime workshops. Presenters and teachers may volunteer or request a modest stipend.
