Stanley Gilmer

Stanley P. Gilmer, 82, of North Branch, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Ecumen Parmly Lifepointes in Chisago City.
Stanley was born March 31, 1931, in Kingston, Minn. to parents Paul and Frederica (Castle) Gilmer. The family moved to Robbinsdale, where he attended school. He later married Veronica M. Merrier. Stanley worked as a well driller from 1950 to 1968; he drove truck until 1987 and delivered newspapers from 1987 to 1998 when he retired. He served his country in the U.S. Army from June of 1948 to 1950. He was an avid reader, loved cooking, history, fishing, hunting, music and traveling.
He is survived by his sons, Paul (Sally) Gilmer of Sparta, Wis., James (Diane) Gilmer, of Menahga, and Scott (Wanda) Gilmer, of International Falls; daughters, Lori (Keith) Johnson, of North Branch, Lisa (Bill) Andersen, of Mountain Lake, Linda (Ron) Dixon, of Cambridge, Leslie (Dale) Maunu, of Watsonville, Calif., and Jenean (Brendan) Gilmer, of St. Paul; his 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Millard; sisters, Lucille Wolke and Arvilla Williams; son, Donnie and wife, Veronica, in 2003.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Family interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Branch.
