Discover new ways to keep healthy during the final night of the 20th annual Women’s Health Conference at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at the Hazelden Cork Center in Center City.
Coining the theme of the evening, “Put Spring in Your Step,” Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, Chisago and Polk County Public Health, Fairview Lakes Medical Center and St. Croix Regional Medical Center invite women to take advantage of free health screenings and information followed by two featured speakers. Advance registration is not necessary.
From 5:30-6:30 p.m., the program includes health fair, blood pressure checks, body mass index (BMI) and blood glucose with a nutrition educator.
From 6:30-7:30 p.m., featured speaker Gretchen (Philips) Bosacker, MD, presents “The 2014 Version of the Healthy You.”
Familiar to local residents as a former family medicine physician at Fairview Lakes Medical Center, “Dr. Gretchen” previously hosted Fairview’s Sunday morning call-in show on WCCO Radio. She later appeared on the Doctor Oz show and served on that program’s medical advisory board. On Thursday night she will provide the resources women need to stay healthy in an age of media hype.
Concluding the event, from 7:45-8:45 p.m., will be Master Chef and culinary instructor Mike Shannon, from Cooks of Crocus Hill, who will present “Fast, Healthy and Flavorful.”
The Cooks of Crocus Hill have been called the “Cadillac” of cooking schools. Sample the tasty results as Shannon shows you how to cook with fresh, wholesome foods.
