Parents, toddlers and moms-to-be: Come for quick health talks, interactive demonstrations and healthy fun
Whether you’re newly pregnant, have a baby or toddler or are simply thinking about having a baby, Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming invites you to bring your spouse or a friend to “Baby Talk” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
Talk to the experts about everything babies. Toddlers are welcome to meet Clifford the Big Red Dog, attend story time and receive a book from Reach Out and Read, try the toddler obstacle course and enjoy the music of guitarist Will Hale of the Tadpole Express. Take a moment for a fun family photo in the free photo booth.
Moms can tour the Birthplace, talk to a pediatrician and a pediatric dentist, learn about cloth versus disposable diapers, get tips on making baby food, ask questions about pregnancy and parenting, see a prenatal and postnatal yoga demonstration, learn about infant CPR and how to prevent choking, and prepare pets for baby’s arrival.
Allergist John B. Sweet will offer information on childhood allergies and asthma, and pediatric rehab will be on hand to answer questions about physical and speech development and bring you to the toddler obstacle course.
Child safety seat demonstrations will take place throughout the event, and (weather permitting) childseat installation will be offered by appointment starting at 9 a.m. through 2 p.m.
Choose from five 20-minute talks:
10:15 a.m. – “I’m pregnant…Now what?” by obstetrical nurse Deb Hall
10:40 a.m. – “Infant CPR” demonstration by North Ambulance (not for certification)
11:05 a.m. – “Parenting: Answers to common questions” by pediatrician Sarah Fuerstenberg
11:30 a.m. – “Preparing Pets for Baby’s Arrival” by Blue Sky Animal Hospital
12 p.m. – “Tips on Making Your Own Baby Food” by dietician Rachel Baar
Top off the event with refreshments and door prizes including a weekend at Grand Casino, dinner for two and a free spring outfit for your child.
