Longtime health care leader joins Fairview Lakes

A longtime leader in health care joined the team at Fairview Lakes Medical Center on Monday.

John Herman, MHA, is assuming leadership of the medical center in Wyoming. He also is the site executive of Fairview Northland Medical Center in Princeton, where he has worked for the last four years.

As site executive for the two hospitals, Herman’s focus is on ensuring patients and families receive the best care possible and that the health care needs of the community are met.

“I am looking forward to continuing the award-winning care and service that Fairview Lakes Medical Center has been providing and to working with the communities we serve to keep care close to home,” Herman said.

His broad experience in health care has served Fairview well since he joined the organization in 2010. Prior to that, he spent two years as executive vice president of the health care division at Welsh Companies and worked 25 years in various roles at Park Nicollet Health Services. He also led the creation of TRIA orthopedic clinic and ambulatory center in Bloomington, Minn.

Herman has a bachelor’s degree in biology and religion from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota.

He is a member of the American Hospital Association, American College of Health Care Executives and Medical Group Management Association and serves on the boards of the Minnesota Hospital Association and Central Minnesota Diagnostic Inc. He is active in a number of local community services and organizations.

Herman was recently in the news for his daughter’s accomplishments in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, where she competed in the slopestyle event.

Steve Housh, immediate past president of the hospital, is taking on a new role within the health care organization as site executive of Fairview Maple Grove Medical Center.

Fairview Lakes Medical Center offers primary and specialty care to the region northeast of the Twin Cities. Fairview Health Services provides the full continuum of care, from clinic visits to senior living options.
