The Chisago County Historical Society’s Mike Lynch Starwatch program has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, May 2 at the Sportsman’s Club in Chisago City.
Lynch’s astronomy and stargazing class includes a 30-minute indoor orientation of the night sky with provided maps and constellation diagrams. Afterward, participants will go outside and take in a celestial show overhead. A constellation tour and some of the lore of Big Bear, Little Bear, Cassiopeia and others are part of the program, as well.
Two 20-inch reflectors — among the biggest mobile telescopes in Minnesota — will allow close-up views of star clusters, nebulae, galaxies and other wonders of the spring skies.
The event is open to the public and serves as a good way to get kids interested in astronomy. Admission is $3 per person.
