Derrian Dick, 7, of North Branch, has been chosen as a state finalist in the America Miss Minnesota Pageant. She is the daughter of Kimberlee Dick. The pageant will be held June 7-8 at the Doubletree Hotel in Bloomington.
Derrian’s favorite activities include soccer, baseball, Girl Scouts, rock climbing and golf. She also enjoys cooking, swimming, riding her scooter, playing on her tablet and reading.
Derrian will be competing in the junior preteen division. The winner of the pageant will receive $1,000 in cash, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California, where she will receive a complimentary tour of Hollywood and two VIP tickets to Disneyland.
Girls under the age of 12 are not allowed to wear makeup in the competition, and there is no swimsuit component. Emphasis of the pageant is put on the importance of developing self confidence, learning good sportsmanship, and setting and achieving personal goals.
