TITLE & SUMMARY OF ORDINANCES
Pursuant to Minn. Stat. Section 412.191, Subd. 4
The City Council for the City of Harris, Chisago County, Minnesota, has authorized publication of the Title & Summary of the following ordinances. Printed copies of the ordinances are available for inspection during regular office hours at the office of the City Clerk, City of Harris City Hall, 43970 Ginger Avenue, Harris, Minnesota. Copies of the entire text of the following ordinances have also been posted in a public space located in the City Hall at the address listed herein above.
Ordinance Number 2014-01
Ordinance Title: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE CITY OF HARRIS CITY CODE RELATING TO THE OPERATION OF THE CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT
Summary: This ordinance provides the following amendments: new titles for officers of the fire department; sets a minimum age for the Fire Chief; sets a term of three years for the Fire Marshall; provides for department members to vote for officer positions with the exception of the Fire Chief; provides for three year terms for officers; officer elections are subject to the confirmation and removal without cause by the City Council; firefighters may be dismissed by the city council without cause; the fire department shall have a two hour training drill once a month; Section 34.07 was re-titled to Officers; successful completion of a six month probation period for new firefighters is required with a minimum age of 18 years old for the same; and firefighters shall attend a minimum of 14 of the 20 inside training sessions and a minimum of 8 of the 12 duty rosters within the 12-month calendar year or forfeit membership.
