Euphonious tunes heard at Battle of the Musicians in NB

Ryan Jutz and his band, “Bad Mojo,” were the winners of the Battle of the Musicians event Friday, May 9 at North Branch Area High School. The band was awarded $150. Here, Jutz sings and plays guitar while Cole Oehlers plays the drums. The band played one original song and “Radioactive” by the band “Imagine Dragons.” Kassie Goodroad won $50 for her guitar solo of “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You” by Led Zepplin, and the vocalist trio “Blessed Mess,” composed of Aurea Wek, Tyra Fonnest and Quincy Verando, won $50 for their performance of John Legend’s “All of Me” and “Billionaire” by Bruno Mars. Roger Nelson, left, and son Randy Nelson play “Duo de Concord” on their trumpets. Cole Oehlers showcases his expertise on the drums. Megan Malone treats the audience to her rendition of “Right as Rain” by Adele. Jeremy Wolfe adds the bass to Bad Mojo. Zachary Fluegel sings the Aerosmith classic  “Dream On.”

Those who came to Edelstein Auditorium at North Branch Area High School Friday heard reverberating guitar riffs, powerful vocal performances and even in-sync trumpets.

The auditorium was the site of the 2014 Battle of the Musicians, sponsored by the North Branch Music Boosters.
