Helen Pedersen

Helen C. Pedersen, age 95 of North Branch formerly of Chicago died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Gracewood Senior Living in North Branch.
Helen was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois to parents, Frank J. and Emma (Skornia) Miller and lived there until she was 91. She graduated from high school in 1936 in Chicago and later married Donald C. Pedersen from 1943 to 1956. Helen was employed as an Inspector at Plastics Manufacture and Retail Sales at Weiboldts. She moved to North Branch in 2010 due to her failing health. Helen made friends everywhere she went and held dearly the ones she developed while at Gracewood. Helen, unfortunately, fell victim of Alzheimers and her memory often escaped her. But when she was sharp in her recall her retention was memories of surviving the depression, adapting to plastic being introduced into the industry, the ever changing cost of living and giving tips on staying safe. Helen spent her life raising her family and loving every second of it. She loved her plants and was an avid gardener. But her true love and passion was her family and her church. She was a member of her Lutheran Womens Group The Salathiens.
Helen is survived by her son, Don (Patty) Pedersen of North Branch; granddaughter, Regena (Jan) Huffman; grandson, Robert (Kim) Abbott; granddaughter, Judy (Kyle) Asklund; grandson, Larry (Shelley) Pedersen; granddaughter, Kelly (Tim) Carr; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Miller of Chicago; sister, Bernice Arndt of Chicago and thousands of friends made over her 95 years of life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
