Community members paid their respects to military veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice this Memorial Day under sunny blue skies at country cemeteries in and around Rush City, North Branch, Harris and Stacy.
Stacy American Legion, Peterson-Waller Post 312 put on a fine program before a good turnout of folks around 11 a.m. Monday at Linwood Cemetery. Leading the program was St. John’s Lutheran Church Pastor Ed Wheatley with a special prayer from Scott Adkins, a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army who is interning with Wheatley and staff at St. John’s. Boy Scout Troop 9435 showed their support, as well.
Another good crowd observed Rush City’s Grothe-Jacobson VFW Post 6692 and its program at First Lutheran Cemetery, just north of town. The community appreciated Memorial Day programs by Harris American Legion Post 139 and North Branch American Legion Post 85, as well.
