In mid-May, Wink the Other Eye, a trio from East Central Minnesota, performed a concert at the Chisago County Senior Center, as part of the Coffee Time Concert Series through We R Able. The group performed tunes for waltz and polka, “Back up and Push,” some Irish tunes, and added some familiar songs, like “Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue” in their set list.  Darrell Johnson, of Lindstrom, joined them on his set of harmonicas for a couple selections.

Group evaluation and reflection were a part of the afternoon. Each person used a colored chart to help select colors that represented his or her arts experience for the concert.  Then everyone contributed four-inch squares of colored paper to create a group quilt to provide a visual image of the group’s response to the music.

We R Able provides accessible programs for adults with disabilities ages 14 and up, and the general public. It has a Facebook page and invites area residents to visit the page and “like it” to learn about upcoming events. Wink the Other Eye will perform again in the Arts RX series at North Country Coffee at the North Branch Mall at 6 p.m.  June 17. All are welcome.
