North Branch Area High School physical education teacher Tony Aho, a 20-year employee of the district, died Monday.
The school district has not released details of his death and is requesting privacy for the Aho family at this time.
Aho was known to many in the North Branch area not only because of his teaching at the high school, but also because of his years as its head wrestling coach.
During his tenure as coach, numerous wrestlers made it to the state meet, the most recent in 2012 — the last year Aho coached the team.
The district supplied this statement to the Post Review about Aho’s death:
“Tony Aho was a beloved member of our high school family and he will be dearly missed. The thoughts and prayers of district staff are with Tony’s wife Rhonda and the rest of the Aho family.”
