Ronald Proulx

Ronald James Proulx was born April 15, 1937, in Cloquet, Minnesota, to Alvin and Nellie (Hendrickson) Proulx. His father worked in the wood industry while his mother was a stay-at-home mother. He graduated from Cloquet High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in education at the University of Minnesota Duluth. After going to teach at North Branch High School, Ron met and married his fellow teacher, Bev Roth. Ron also got a Library Science Masters Degree at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. He taught English and was the librarian at North Branch Schools for all 33 years of his teaching career. His students often praised him for his ability challenge them to think for themselves. He was an avid golfer, woodworker, ceramic painter, and Green Bay Packer fan.

Ron passed away on Monday, July 21, at the St. Croix Regional Medical Center after an unsuccessful battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife, Bev; son Guy (Kim) of Singapore; son John (Dianne) of Blaine; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. The memorial service will be Saturday, August 9, at the Main Street Church in North Branch. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m.. The service will be at 11:00, followed by a luncheon. Interment will be at a future date. Memorials are preferred to the family.
