‘Kicking off’ the school year with football

Last Thursday evening brought beautiful weather for the North Branch Quarterback Club’s fourth annual “Football, Floats and Fun.” This is a wonderful event that has come to serve as a milestone on the way to the next school year.

I know, it’s still summer for a few more weeks, but it’s hard not to start getting excited about the upcoming school year when the football team is on the stadium field playing hard, fans are in the stands chomping at the bit for the season to get started in earnest and kids of all ages are coming to school to have fun and show support for our activities.

If you’ve never joined us for the event, I strongly encourage you to give it a try next year. The atmosphere is contagious, like a football carnival complete with a “bouncy house,” face-painting, root beer floats and much more.

Oh, and there is football! Last Thursday, the Vikings took on St. Francis in two different scrimmages. A big early dose of the gridiron, as we head toward fall.

If you would like to see some photos from the event, you can visit the QB Club’s website at www.northbranchsports.org/page/show/116241-quarterback-club-information-for-parents. There is also information there about how to join, receive information from the group, purchase logo-wear and more. The QB Club also has a Twitter feed and a Facebook page if you would like to receive news and updates in that format.

A big thanks to the QB Club for putting on this great event and to NBAPS staff who support the effort. It is a great way for the community to get together and celebrate our kids, our activities programs, and build excitement for the coming school year.
