Officers respond to gunshots in NB city limits; man charged

A North Branch man was arrested last week for allegedly discharging a firearm within city limits, an incident that led to the evacuation of neighboring residents.
According to a press release from North Branch Police Chief Dan Meyer, officers responded to a report of gunshots being heard from a residence in the 38000 block of Timber Lane at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday, April 23.
Joined by deputies from the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, the officers secured the area and evacuated numerous residents from the immediate area. The county’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams also were called to assist.
The suspect, Nicolas Goulette, 48, eventually came out of his residence and was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with felony reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality and is currently being held at the Chisago County jail.
The incident is still under investigation by the North Branch Police Department.
