Police Reports

North Branch police reports major arrests and incidents that occur in the city limits. Chisago County Sheriff’s Office reports major crimes and arrests within Chisago County. The time refers to the time the incident was reported on the corresponding date.

Chisago County:
March 27: North Lake Dr., Rush Lake Trl., Rush City, vehicle crash, personal injury; a deputy arrived on scene and spoke with a man who was being looked at by Lakes Region EMS. He refused transport. The man’s vehicle was towed, and he received a ride home from another deputy. The man said he was trying to do a voice-activated text, and the sun and fog blocked his vision of the intersection, resulting in the crash. (8:07 a.m.)
March 30: S. Harte Ave., W 3rd St., Rush City, suspicious activity; a deputy was dispatched to the area in reference to two parties peeking into cars. The deputy located the parties. They denied looking into cars. One of them was found with a small amount of marijuana. He was cited for the violation. Both were on probation, so the deputy left voicemails with their respective probation officers about the incident. Both men were released. (1:05 a.m.)
Kost Trl., Lincoln Rd., Lent Twp., vehicle fire; a deputy responded to the location and upon arrival he saw a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. He made contact with the driver, who told him he had just left home several minutes before noticing there was a glow coming from underneath the hood of his truck. He pulled over and found the truck was on fire. The deputy remained on scene while firefighters from the Stacy-Lent Fire Department extinguished the fire. The deputy then called a towing company to come pick up the vehicle. (5:12 a.m.)
29000 block of Glader Blvd., Chisago Lake Twp., theft; a canoe went missing from the property approximately two weeks ago. The canoe is described as aluminum, three seats, 25 years old. (11:13 a.m.)
April 1: 300 block of Bench St., Taylors Falls, theft from vehicle; the complainant told a deputy someone entered his vehicle and took his W2. The deputy had recovered this W2 from a suspect the previous night. The complainant said no other items were missing from his vehicle. (9:04 a.m.)
North Lake Dr. W., Basswood Rd. W., Nessel Twp., suspicious person; a deputy responded to the area and found a highly intoxicated woman who was being cared for by her daughter. The deputy reported the woman was “not bloody, but very muddy.” (4:53 a.m.)
43000 block of Forest Blvd., Harris, driving complaint; deputies responded to the area on a report of a possible intoxicated female driving in the area. After checking the area, the reported vehicle was found in the parking lot of The Fuse. A deputy waited down the street for a short time, and the vehicle left the establishment. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle after it went over the white line. Subsequently, the deputy pulled the vehicle over and made the woman driving it do field sobriety tests, which she performed poorly. The woman was arrested and later registered a .21 blood-alcohol level on a DMT at the Chisago County Jail. She was charged with third degree DWI, open bottle and theft. Shortly before heading to the jail, dispatch advised the deputy the vehicle the woman was driving was reported stolen from The Fuse. (5:46 p.m.)

John Loring Weiss, 65, Forest Lake, fourth degree DWI.
March 28: Monty Joseph Frenzel, 49, Stacy, DWI.
Rebecca Lynn Letourneau, 19, Lindstrom, driving after suspension, fugitive from justice.
Jon Paul Lunzer, 36, Forest Lake, DWI.
March 29: Alan Michael Tejeda, 28, Braham, second degree DWI, driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety, providing a false name to police.
Joseph Troy Burth, 29, North Branch, domestic assault.
March 30: Quentin Reginald Garbow, fourth degree assault-inflict bodily harm, knife.
Spencer Lee Welch, 26, Wyoming, DWI.
David Ralph Colby, 46, Wyoming, fifth degree possession of amphetamine.
David Edward Dittbenner, 26, Rush City, theft, receiving stolen property.
Sean Lawrence Bennett, second degree assault-dangerous weapon, terroristic threats, domestic assault-strangulation, disturbing the peace.
March 31: Paul Wayne Longsdorf, third-degree DWI, one aggravating factor.
Shawn Matthew Wight, 32, North Branch, possession of stolen property.
Shawn Michael Peterson, 22, Rush City, first degree criminal sexual conduct.
Mandy Elizabeth Waletzko, 39, Harris, fifth degree assault.
Joseph Andrew Marx, 33, Rush City, driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety.
April 1: George Charles Beimert, 48, Stacy, DWI-refuse to submit to chemical test.
Kevin Kenneth Klosowski, 43, North Branch, criminal vehicular operation-great bodily harm under the influence of a combination of alcohol and controlled substances.
Stephanie Diane Boelter, 38, Stacy, third-degree DWI, open bottle, theft.
Scott William Kunkel, 48, North Branch, fourth-degree DWI.
Richard Austin Swing, 19, Shafter, fifth degree possession of a controlled substance-cocaine.
