April 3: 39000 block of Mica Ave., North Branch, theft of vehicle; the vehicle was located by a North Branch Police Department officer. The person driving the vehicle fled in it from the officer’s squad. The vehicle then crashed in the area of Cedar Street and Grand Avenue. The suspect was placed into custody and then later released to group home staff. (8:09 p.m.)
April 4: Rush Point Dr., Evergreen Ave., Rush City, traffic stop; a deputy pulled over a driver in the area who was traveling 68 mph in a 55 mph zone. Upon talking to the driver, the deputy noticed the smell of marijuana. The man said he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day. The deputy asked the man if he could search his vehicle. The man agreed. The deputy found an open bottle in the back of the truck, and the truck did not have insurance. The deputy cited the man for speed and no proof of insurance. (1:15 p.m.)
April 8: 10000 block of 510th St., Rushseba Twp., fire call; a deputy responded to a grass fire. The Rush City Fire Department was already on scene and had the fire under control. The deputy reported someone had taken ashes from a wood stove and dumped them in the area, which started the fire. (10:35 a.m.)
50000 block of Ferry Rd., Rush City; residential burglary reported. (1:54 p.m.)
14000 block of 315th St., Center City, shots fired; a deputy responded to the area and spoke to the shooters. They told him they had shot a jar of Tannerite, an exploding target used for firearms practice. The explosion caused a loud sound. The deputy told the men their targets did not have a safe backstop, so they moved them. The deputy then spoke to the complainant and advised the target practice was legal. (3:16 p.m.)
35000 block of Forest Blvd., Stacy, fire call; a deputy was dispatched to the area in reference to a grass fire. The Stacy-Lent Fire Department and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources were also dispatched. The fire burned a small area in a field near the residence. It appeared the fire was possibly caused by a hot vehicle parked in or near the field. It also appeared that the parties in the area were burning prohibited materials frequently. One party was cited for burning prohibited materials. (6:21 p.m.)
April 9: 5000 block of 335th St., burglary; North Branch, a deputy met with the complainant. She told him between April 3 to 5, someone forced entry into a pole shed on the property and stole several items. (1:33 p.m.)
