Jerome “Jerry” A. Nelson

Jerome “Jerry” A. Nelson, age 74 of North Branch, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Jerry was born on November 30, 1942 in St. Paul to parents Ralph and Eunice (Sorensen) Nelson. He moved with his family to the Amador Hill area in Chisago County and attended North Branch Schools graduating in 1960. He attended one year of college before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served for two years. After his return from military duty he attended Northwest Technical College. Jerry took a job with AT&T and worked for them as an Electronic Technician for over 30 years. He loved fishing, bow hunting, woodworking, cooking and baking. He also enjoyed working on cars and other projects around the house. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Jerry is survived by his wife Janice; children Jarrod (Lori) of Stanchfield, Matt of Wyoming, Ann (Branden) Mell of Rush City and Patty Nelson of Forest Lake; his seven grandchildren, Avery, Jaiden, Ashley and Austin Nelson and Carlie, Hudsen and Mitch Mell; as well as his brother-in-law, Jim (Pat) Fairbanks; sisters-in-law, Joyce Beecher, Dolores Fairbanks, Jeanine Fairbanks, Sharon Fairbanks and Jean Fairbanks. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Eunice Nelson; an infant daughter; infant sister, Eulonnie; brothers-in-law, Homer Beecher, Jerry Fairbanks, Kenny (Walene) Fairbanks, Gene (Shirley) Fairbanks, Melvin Fairbanks, Dale Fairbanks and Delmer Fairbanks.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch with Pastor Lee Beecher officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in North Branch.
