A Celebration of Life will be held for Vivian Johnson, age 96, of Bluffton, Minnesota on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena, Minnesota. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. Burial service will follow at Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
Vivian Magdalene Stinar was born December 25, 1920 to Fred and Hazel Stinar in Jackson, Wyoming. They moved to the family farm in Minnesota in the 1920’s. After high school, Vivian attended nursing school and was employed at St. Paul Ramsey Hospital. She then joined the Navy and served until the end of the war in 1945. She was united in marriage to Theodore C. Johnson and moved to Afton, MN in 1953. They were blessed with one son, Dr. Jeffrey S. Johnson.
Her husband Ted passed away on October 20, 1989. She then moved back to her family farm with her brother Freddie, sister Ilo and father Fred. Vivian lived out the remainder of her life on the family farm where her door was always open.
Vivian loved dancing with Ted, gardening, canning, flowers, dogs, cats, sheep, travelling, jigsaw puzzles, bling, purple, pink, shopping, birds, babies, embroidery, painting, swimming, reading and most precious – family.
Survived by son, Jeffrey (Robin) Johnson of Stacy, MN; grandson, Ryan; granddaughter, Shanna; great-grandsons, Bradley and Noah; siblings, Homer Stinar of Verndale, MN, Fred Stinar of Bluffton, MN.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Fred Stinar; husband, Ted Johnson; sisters, Audrey Kalahar and Ilo Thorne and nephew, Tim Kalahar.
