NB golfers battle at Bulrush

Bulrush Golf Course in Rush City, the home course of the North Branch boys and girls golf teams, was busy with Mississippi 8 action last week. The Vikings acted as hosts for the midseason conference tournament on May 2, then the boys also hosted a match on May 3 and the girls on May 4.

At the midseason tournament, the boys finished fourth of five in the M8 East with 350 points, just one stroke behind third-place St. Francis. Chisago Lakes won the day with 317.

Hope Hubbard

Reece Armistead was the top Viking, carding 81 to finish seventh in the individual standings, five strokes off the lead. Jeremy Iverson was 13th with 85. The other varsity Vikings were Joe Fabini (89), Austin Gravender (95), Josh Armsitead (98) and Charlie Prell (116).

The Vikings lowered their score on to 346 on May 3. A closely packed scoring four saw Josh Armistead lead the way with 85, followed by Iverson (86), Reece Armistead (87) and Fabini (88). Gravender (94) and Prell (109) both improved their scores.

Hailie Bistodeau

The Viking girls finished fifth in the midseason tournament with 490. Sydnie Sampson finished 15th (108). Alyssa McClaskie carded 116, followed by Maddi Strong and Hope Hubbard (both 133), Ally Kress (134) and Hailie Bistodeau (138).
Cambridge-Isanti won with 378.

The Viking girls improved on May 4, scoring a total of 467 strokes. McClaskie was 13th (105), with Strong (119), Sampson (120), Bistodeau (123), Kress (127) and Hubbard (133) following.
