Sunrise Flour Mill expands to North Branch

Sunrise Flour Mill , among the country’s first to mill organic heritage wheat, is expanding its capacity with the purchase of a 5,200-square-foot facility in North Branch, (formerly In Harvest Granola, located in the North Branch Industrial Park). The move from its current location will increase Sunrise Flour Mill’s retail packaging and wholesale capacity and dramatically expand its line of organic products.
SFM, founded in 2006 by Darrold and Marty Glanville, North Branch, currently supplies restaurants, including Spoon and Stable, Joan’s in the Park, Red Wagon Pizza, Tenant, Taher, Inc., and others, with premium heritage wheat flour. The region’s co-ops, including The Wedge, Seward, Lakewinds, Linden Hills, River Market, Valley Natural Foods, and City Center Market, sell SFM flour in bulk. They also sell to a number of restaurants and bakeries nationally. SFM products also are sold directly to consumers through Mill City Farmers Market and online.
Heritage Breads Bakery, Minnetonka, relies on SFM flour for its award-winning loaves of sourdough bread. By expanding its facility, SFM also will increase its production of other organic grain products such as rye flour, cornmeal, flaked oats, oat flour, heritage pancake and waffle mix, and frozen pizza dough.
SFM currently is installing packaging equipment with the new milling equipment to be installed later this summer.
