Junior pitcher Brady Brodin heads the list of team and league award winners on the North Branch baseball team.
Brodin was named the team MVP and also shared the Top Ace award with junior Dylan Ramberg. Brodin was the lone Viking to make the Mississippi 8 all-conference squad. He was further cited as an All-Section 7AAA honoree, as was sophomore shortstop Clint Mattson, who finished with the team’s best batting average (.388).
At the plate, Brodin batted .299 and knocked in 11 runs. He only struck out five times in 78 plate appearances.
On the mound, Brodin went 5-4 on the season, picking up 48 strikeouts in 50 innings and a 2.66 ERA. Those numbers helped him earn a share of the team’s Top Ace Award along with fellow junior Dylan Ramberg (2-3, 27 strikeouts, 2.83 ERA).
Ramberg was named to the Section 7AAA all-tournament team, as was junior outfielder Dawson Linkert. Linkert earned the team’s Golden Glove Award for his .946 fielding percentage.
Mattson, senior first baseman Ryan Byrkit and senior catcher Nick Fairbanks were named all-conference honorable mention.
Byrkit and Fairbanks shared the Top Slugger Award. The two players tied for the team lead in slugging percentage (.507). Byrkit clubbed three home runs and finished the season with the top RBI total on the team (16); Fairbanks knocked in 13 runs and led the Vikings with 10 doubles.
Junior infielder Aaron Robillard won the Vikings’ Charlie Hustle Award for stealing a team-high seven bases without being thrown out once.
Junior outfielder Lucas Jensen-Schneider won the Coach’s Award of Excellence; he was one of five Vikings to earn a spot on the academic all-conference team, the others being Mattson, Robillard and juniors Zack Pilz and Cooper Sanvik.
As a team, the Vikings earned a Silver rating on the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Class AAA All-Academic list.
