Daniel DeFrance

Dan was born on March 25, 1969 in Alexandria MN, the youngest of five children to Dayle and Beatrice DeFrance. Dan was raised in Barrett, MN, where he excelled in baseball, basketball and football. Dan attended college in Fergus Falls and Crookston, MN and then moved to Minneapolis, where he began a 20+ year career at American Express Financial Advisors, (IDS and later Cenveo). It was here Dan met Molly Hannan and they were married on September 28, 1996. They moved to North Branch, MN in 1997 and it was here they would raise their two boys, Mason and Landon.
Dans love of sports continued all his life including helping coach both boys in baseball and basketball. A proud season ticket holder for 24 years, Dans passion was his beloved MN Gopher Football team.
We wish to extend our gratitude to our friends and family, the community of North Branch, Fairview Hospice and both Dan and Molly’s employers, Innovize and Ecumen North Branch.
Dan passed away at home after a two year battle with brain cancer.
Survived by wife, Molly; adored sons, Mason and Landon DeFrance; parents, Dayle and Bea DeFrance; brothers, Craig DeFrance and Nathan DeFrance; sisters, Brenda (Paul) Rozycki and Carla (Charlie) Crosby; in-laws, Carol Hannan, Mike (Ellyn) Hannan; brother and sister-in-laws, Michael (Jamie) Hannan, Amy (Tony) Hannan and Susanne (Wes) Heirlmeier; nephews Doug, Hunter, Sage, Leif, River, Noah and Max; nieces, Jackie, Sarah, Madalyne and Marissa; and much loved dog, Ruby.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
