NBAPS District has a new director of finance and human resources

At the North Branch Area Public Schools School Board meeting July 13, the board introduced Jon Ellerbusch as the new director of finance and human resources.
Ellerbusch started July 1 and has been working with Randi Johnson, who is retiring from the position in September.
“I’ve had a great two weeks here already and Randi’s been absolutely wonderful, as well as the admin team,” Ellerbusch said. “I was at my first construction meeting and it lasted five hours, but there is a lot of excitement here.”
Ellerbusch has been in school administration for 18 years. He started his teaching career at the Cresbard School District in South Dakota teaching social science in 1996. He served as a middle and high school principal at both the Waubay School District in South Dakota and the Southland School District in Adams, Minnesota. Ellerbusch served as the high school principal at the Kingsland School District before becoming the superintendent for 7 1/2 years at Royalton Public Schools.
Ellerbush has experience with large building projects, which will help him in his new job, given that the referendum passed May 23, which allows NBAPS $70 million in improvements for the school district.
“I completed a $29.5 million building project about two weeks ago, which was a five-year journey, and a complete overhaul of the district in Royalton,” Ellerbusch said. “I know that you’re looking at a few years for your projects here, and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Ellerbusch and his wife, Rhonda, have three children — Abby, Anna and Zach. Abby is a sophomore in college, Anna will be starting her sophomore year in high school, and Zach is an eighth-grader. Ellerbusch plans to commute for one year from the St. Cloud area until moving to North Branch.
“We are excited to move here. I was surprised my kids wanted to move here right away, even though they’ve been going to Royalton for seven years and have a lot of friends,” Ellerbusch said. “This makes the transition for me as a dad easy.”
