North Branch holds robotics camp

The week of Aug. 7, North Branch held a robotics camp for students entering grades 7-9 who will be new to the robotics program this fall. Under the guidance of mentor Tomy Cummings, campers built a frame for the robot, attached motors and completed wiring it, and finally learned the basics of programming and were able to drive their robots around. One of the team leaders, Becky Leuer, said the idea of a camp began last spring with the goal of exposing rookie team members to robot basics so when the season starts in September they can jump right in and be productive team members. North Branch has five teams for students in grades 7-9. “We still have room for 3-4 more team members,” new team leader Ryan Schlagel said. “An organizational meeting will be held right after open house at the middle school in the south cafeteria.”
