Former resident of Rush CityKelly Eugene Olson, age 58, of Schoolcraft, Michigan, died peacefully at his home on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017.
He was born in Longmont, Colorado on Nov. 4, 1958, the son of Edward E. and Anna Marie (Brady) Olson. He graduated high school in Rush City, Minnesota in 1977 and soon after moved to Michigan. He has resided in Schoolcraft for the past year. Kelly worked as a butcher, and later in the RV industry in Northern Indiana. Most recently, he worked in the customer service department for National City Bank. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time, and made many custom bird houses for family and friends.
Kelly is survived by a sister, Kristy Mattern of Portage, MI; two brothers, Keith (Valerie) Olson of Greely, CO and Kenneth Olson of Longmont, CO; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Kathy Lind.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Vicksburg, MI with Monsignor Thomas Martin officiating. Memorials may be directed to Lending Hands, 2403 Helen Ave., Portage, MI 49002. Arrangements were by the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers.
