The North Branch football team will make its home debut this Friday against Duluth East with an undefeated record to defend. The Vikings improved to 2-0 on the young season by defeating Hermantown 42-28 on Sept. 8.
Senior quarterback Aaron Robillard led the charge with 278 rushing yards to go with 115 through the air. Senior running back Evan Amunrud picked up 116.
Robillard hit senior receiver Darien Fair for a five-yard touchdown to open the scoring. Amunrud ran for a two-point conversion.
In the second quarter, Adams ran for a four-yard score.
After Hermantown got on the board with a third-quarter touchdown, the Viking first-half scorers doubled their tallies in response: Fair on a 37-yard pass from Robillard and Adams with a seven-yard run. Amunrud kicked extra points after each touchdown to give the Vikings a 28-6 lead entering the fourth quarter.
The two teams traded scores in the fourth quarter. Hermantown’s three touchdowns were answered by a 45-yard scoring run by Robillard and a six-yarder by Amunrud.
Over the course of two games, the Viking offense has racked up 92 points.
Duluth East will enter Friday’s contest with a 1-1 record, having beaten Proctor 19-6 last week after falling to Big Lake 30-15 to begin the season.
