‘Let’s give cancer the boot
to the editor
There are many reasons I have supported the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for many years. We need ACS for its education and research efforts.
I’m sure I’m not the one who’s personally fought some form of cancer, nor am I alone in offering care and prayer for family and friends facing Big C challenges. That said, I’m looking forward to Chicago County’s Relay on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2 to 8:30 p.m., and I hope many of your readers will join me there. Look for signs to the Almelund threshing grounds on Highway 95. There’s plenty of parking.
Survivors and their caregivers are the focus of our Relay this year. No one wins this battle alone, as we all know. There will be a special reception and walk for survivors with luminaries lighting the path.
Relay is a wonderful family event…lots of games, food, music, silent auction and more.
This year especially there’s a great addition: Following Relay at 9 p.m. there will be a barn dance featuring the popular Farmers Daughters. Let’s give cancer the boot and kick up our heels for the cause!
