North Branch quarterback Aaron Robillard scored 36 points in a 52-20 home win over Duluth Denfeld Oct. 6.
A week removed from winning the Star Tribune Football Hub Player of the Week for his performance in a Sept. 29 win over Hibbing, Robillard provided an impressive followup, rushing for 244 yards and five touchdowns. He also passed for 101 yards and one touchdown.
In six games this year, Robillard has rushed for 1,200 yards and 19 touchdowns. He has thrown for 1,007 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Vikings were surprised in the first quarter when the winless Hunters jumped out to a 12-0 lead, but then the Robillard Show began. The quarterback gained about a third of his rushing total when he answered the Hunters’ second score with an 82-yard touchdown run.
Robillard rushed for scores of 44 and two yards in the second quarter. He also picked up the two-point conversions after all three of his first-half scores to put the Vikings ahead 24-12 at halftime.
Robillard capped two Viking drives with short touchdowns in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter he hit Darien Fair for a 32-yard touchdown through the air. Tyler Adams picked up the two-pointer afterward.
Eric Nadeau ran for a 15-yard touchdown at the end of the game and ran for the conversion to finalize the Vikings’ score.
Thomas Wurdemann rushed for 96 yards on only six carries. Adams picked up 56 on eight.
Fair led all Viking receivers with 45 yards. Nick Hunziker caught five passes for 42 yards.
The Vikings (5-1) make the long trip to Grand Rapids (2-4) Friday and will face a quick turnaround when Proctor (4-2) comes to town Wednesday, Oct. 18.
