Tire company expands to Stacy
tire2.jpgTires are a business Jeff Selvog knows well. For the last four years Selvog has operated a mobile tire service company out of Pine City until recently when decided it was time to expand. On Feb. 1 Selvog opened  A1 Tire Service, Inc. in Stacy off the Interstate 35 exit.
 
Got Stuff? They'll take it - New thrift store opens in downtown North Branch

stuff.jpgSecond Hand Treasures is North Branch's newest business to grace the downtown streets.

The thrift store opened Jan. 8 in the old library building and is looking to serve a need in the community by collecting people's unwanted items and then selling them to the public.

The store is co-owned by Lisa Cotter, a 1990 North Branch High School graduate, and Jamie Hovey, a mother of three who resides in Lindstrom.

 

Lisa Cotter, left, and Jamie Hovey are owners of Second Hand Treasures, a new thrift store that opened in the old library building in downtown North Branch Jan. 8. The store is currently accepting used items, which can be dropped off during normal business hours.

 
North Circle Project meets Feb. 24
A meeting to discuss the  future collaboration of farmers and others to promote organic, local produce and value-added products will be held Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. at Scout & Morgan Books in Cambridge and Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Women’s Environmental Institute in Amador Township.
 
EDA Summit meets Feb. 23
The Chisago County HRA-EDA are taking reservations for the first ever Chisago County Economic Development Summit, which they are hosting  Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the North Branch High School Auditorium.

SCRMC offering grief loss support group
St. Croix Regional Medical Center is offering a free, six-session grief and loss support group for persons who have experienced the loss of a loved one in death.  The group will begin Feb. 18.
 
Poole speaker at NB chamber luncheon
Jim Poole, Membership development manager at the James. J. Hill Reference Library in St. Paul will be the feature speaker at the Feb. 12 North Branch Chamber luncheon.

Hooray for baseball! In less than two months, the Minnesota Twins will be playing baseball in the Metrodome. The Twins’ home opener is Monday, March 31 against the Los Angeles Angels. It is the first of a four-game series that spills into April.
