Last week I had the unique experience of covering Craig Fleming’s trial
on a daily basis online (You can read the stories at the “Fleming on
trial” page of the Post Review Web site). It was an experiment for this
weekly newspaper and, judging by readership, a successful one.

Many Minnesota parents might share some of the provocative views some
Somali American and Oromo (Ethiopia) parents presented last week. In a wide ranging meeting, about 30 men and women said they strongly
support some, and strongly oppose other freedoms that their children
are encountering in America.

“We’re trying to do something that’s never been done at this scale
before.” That’s how E. Thomas Sullivan described the UMore Park plans
that the University of Minnesota is developing in the southern Twin
Cities metro area, near Rosemount. On a 12-mile square area, with more than 5000 acres, the University
hopes to create model communities for more than 30,000 families. And if
the plans are fulfilled, it will be a living demonstration of the
world’s finest ideas in ecology, education and economic development.

Usually, I’m not real fond of forwarded e-mails, but I have to say this
one is one I’d like to share. Read this little story and see if you

Saturday night Grandpa and I got a jolt of babysitting reality. It’s
been a long time since we had complete responsibility for two little
ones. After all, our first grandbaby is 21 and finishing up college.
It’s been a long time since we changed his diapers or fed him from a
small baby spoon.

As education and civic leaders struggle with challenging budgets, the
Minnesota communities of Perham and Northfield leaders may have
valuable lessons to share. In these communities, education, city,
community and corporate leaders create a cooperative facility.

meeting, she is filled with pride and excitement at the successes of
the many events that have taken place...

As the North Branch School District reaches out to the community it is
important to note that the education apparatus and the people it serves
sometimes suffer from a language barrier.
