Offensive ablaze in win versus Harding |

The North Branch boys basketball team put the pieces to their
basketball puzzle together as they beat St. Paul Harding, 73-48 Jan. 24
Senior Jake Chambers led the team in scoring with 18 points on seven of
11 from the floor, while John Lindstrom added 17 points.
The boys jumped ahead early and never looked back as they didn’t give up the lead all game.
“We had been having trouble with teams that were quicker than we were
but we handled their pressure much better and actually made them pay
for pressuring us by getting some easy baskets. Rather than sit back,
like we had been doing, we forced the action and that strategy was very
successful,” head coach Bill Baumann said.
As has been the case all season, North Branch’s bench helped carry the team. North Branch’s bench scored a combined 21 points.
“Now we have to continue to be the aggressors on offense and I think we will be a able to get some easy shots,” Baumann said.

Spring Lake Park
Scoring 34 points in a game just won’t get it done in the North Suburban Conference.
The Vikings learned the hard way as they fell to the Spring
Lake Park Panthers 62-34, on Jan. 22. (It was the Vikings lowest
scoring game of the season.)
North Branch (8-7) was led by Kyle Grote who was the lone shinning star on offense, as he finished with 13 points.
The rest of the team stalled on offense. Chambers finished with five
points, while Lindstrom and Ryan Norman combined for just four points.
The Panthers, (9-6) controlled the tempo most of the game as they
forced the Vikings into countless turnovers and earned 21 second-chance
points.
Baumann remained unapologetic about his team’s lackluster performance.
“We didn’t do much of anything right in this game. We played two halves
like we played the first half against Chisago Lakes. We struggled
shooting and then we didn’t take care of the ball very well,” he said.
