The 23rd Annual Chisago County Pheasants Forever banquet will be held at Lent Town Hall near Stacy on March 1.
With one of the of the best pheasant seasons in two decades behind us, the popular, family-oriented event should be of even greater interest this year. The banquet, which always draws a big crowd, begins with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
The national organization celebrated its 25th anniversary along with the 2008 National Pheasant Fest at the River Center in St. Paul in mid-January, drawing about 30,000 visitors—a new record.
The Chisago County banquet has been a sellout or nearly so many years, so order your tickets early, advises Tim Kane, chapter president.
Past attendees have been mailed a newsletter and banquet registration form, and tickets also are available from chapter members, the North Branch Dairy Queen , or by calling Kane at (651) 674-6209.
“Our annual banquet is family-oriented and draws a lot of women and children as well as the traditional male hunters,” said Kane. “It’s a fun time for all, and a chance to really celebrate the great 2007 season. But, more importantly, it’s a chance to raise more funds, which stay in the county, for creating more habitat on the ground for pheasants and other wildlife.”
There are 74 PF chapters in Minnesota with about 23,000 members. Nationally, there are 717 chapters with about 120,000 members. Pheasants Forever was founded in St. Paul and its national headquarters still has a St. Paul address.
