The North Branch wrestling team kept its momentum as it steam rolled two opponents last week.

Versus the Rush City Tigers, the boys won 70-9 Jan. 29 at home.

Ten Viking wrestlers earned pins.

North Branch head coach Tony Aho said the younger wrestlers look good.

“Jake Kalkbrenner continues to improve and become more aggressive while Stuart Frink is also becoming a solid contributor to the line-up,” he said.

Columbia Heights

Skipping to Columbia Heights, the boys pulverized the Hylanders 59-21 on the last day in January at home.

“Matt Lutgen put out a solid effort against a solid opponent, but came up a bit short. He is a hard worker and is closer to finding a way to finish out these kinds of matches,” Aho said.

Chad Anderson came back from an illness to earn a pin.

Mickey Price, in his first varsity match, fought hard in the 189 weight class but came up short of the goal, losing to Emmanuel Garret of Columbia Hegitsh 15-12.
