With
snow falling and the temperate falling with it, more than 115
people participated in the first ever Freeze Your Bunz 5K Feb. 9 at the North Branch Winter Fest, starting at the head
of the Sunrise Praire Trail.
Sam Westerberg of Cambridge was the fastest male finisher while Linda
Green of Arden Hills was the first female to cross the finish line.
A total of 226 pounds of food was donated for the local food shelf.
Nelson’s Market in North Branch made it 276 pounds with a 50 pound
matching donation.
Right: Brandon Heidelberger, left, runs toward the finish line with his father Wally. The Heildelberger’s are from Harris.
All the proceeds, after expenses, were also donated to Family Pathways for a total of $600.
The race was sponsored by Wurdemann Family Chiropractic and North
Branch Snap Fitness. Race organizers said next year they plan to add
professional timing and results.
“We hope to make it bigger and better each year,” race organizer Johanna Puelston said.
