Contest awards, (l to r) Patrick Tepoorten, reporter, Steve

The first place General Excellence plaque was accepted by editor MaryHelen Swanson at a banquet that night.
The judges said, “Consistently strong front pages. Good photos. Nice
mix of hard and soft community news. Strong editorial page. Intriguing
front page layout stood out as different from other entries. Strong
public information page.”
General Excellence is the top for overall excellence.
The Post Review excels also in advertising, taking home a first place
plaque in Best Classified Advertising Section. This is good news for
those who purchase classified ads, knowing that our readers will be able to navigate their way through this award-winning section.
The judge in this category said,” Great visuals and icons allow an easy
find and read for the reader. Great overall layout and design. I love
the classified ‘key.’ Simple and clean. Well done!”
In addition, the Post Review came home with second place in Use
of Photography as a Whole with comments such as “Good photos. The
photos are appropriate for the pages. They fit with the entire paper.
Good job!”
As the Post Review strives to keep abreast of technological advances
the staff has made many improvements to the paper’s Web site and
they were noticed.
The Post Review also came home with a second place in Best Web Site.
Comments were, “Good, friendly layout. Lots of news available.”
The Post Review is updating its Web site daily and is on top of
breaking news. We have added videos to our menu to enhance viewing for
our readers and are offering many options such as reader comments and
entertaining polls.
Finally, our sports reporter Steve Morris brought home a second place
award for his news photo of the hail storm damage from last June.
Throughout the year, the staff at the Post Review works diligently to
bring local news to area readers. Acting quickly when disaster hits and
getting that news to the community is a priority at the Post Review, as
it has been for over 130 years.
Our paper is a combination of two local papers, The Rush City Post and
The North Branch Review, Both were established in their communities in
the late 1800s and have been serving these communities with excellence
since.
