RC students collect $764.07 in Pennies for Patients |

Students at Jacobson Elementary in Rush City collected Pennies for Patients to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society during the month of February. After three weeks of bringing their spare change to school, the total was $764.07.The children would like to say a special thanks to Unity East Bank for counting all the coins.
Leukemia is the leading cause of disease-related death amount children. An estimated 747,465 Americans have blood cancers, and every five minutes, someone new is diagnosed. Since 1992, more than 12 million elementary, middle and high school students nationwide have raised millions of dollars in pennies and other spare change. The mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
“These students serve as an example to all of us through their commitment to helping others,” said Angie Lundeen, campaign manager for the Minnesota Chapter. “Their efforts will help local patients and their families along with funding blood cancer research at the University of Minnesota and Mayo Clinic.”
