TO THE EDITOR:
Our county commissioners are not being fiscally responsible. Recently they voted to approve a 9.9 percent increase in their levy, over 5 percent of that was for bonding that they now have to start repaying. What they should have been doing all along was increasing the levied budget to raise enough tax dollars for the projects that they wanted funded. Taxpayers of Chisago County, do you understand what this means? It means that you are paying increased property taxes because you are now also paying interest on that bonded money. If the levies had been increased to begin with and the project paid for by that money you would not have to be paying increased taxes due to interest payments.
