The North Branch boys basketball team lost two, hard fought conference basketball games last week.

Columbia Heights

Senior Jake Chambers led the team with 28 points as the boys lost the game 80-53.

In the first half of the Viking’s game against Columbia Heights, the boys committed 18 turnovers.

Along with the turnovers, the Vikings weren’t executing.

“It wasn’t so much what Columbia Heights was doing as much as it was us not executing. We played with no emotion and just went through the motions,” head coach Bill Baumann said.

Against the Hawks, the boys finally seemed to emerge from their funk, but still came out on the losing end, 65-53.

In the second half, the Vikings outscored the Hawks by one point, but the damage from the first half was too much to overcome.

Chambers finished with 15 points while John Lindstrom added 14.

“We finally broke out of our funk and played a pretty good game. I’ve always told the kids if they played hard, played smart and played together I would not be disappointed in the outcome. We did those things but still came up on the short end of the victory column,” Baumann said.
