The North Branch hockey team took an early exit from the section
playoffs last week with a 10-2 loss to the Proctor Rails Feb. 19 in
Proctor.
The game ended North Branch’s season.
After one period of play, the score was knotted at 2-2.
In the second period, the Rails unloaded seven goals to seal their victory.
The Rails added one final goal in the third period to end all scoring at 10-2.
Senior Jack Williams scored both of the Vikings goals.
Williams first goal was unassisted and his second goal came off a pass from sophomore forward Gavin Runberg.
Proctor outshot the Vikings 34-16.
Viking goalie Scott Dennis stopped 24 of 34 shots.
“We played a very nice first and third period, but the wheels flew off
in the second. Once again, consistency ...,” head coach Darrell Schulte
said.
