The Rush City boys basketball team has won three of their last four
games and are looking to sharpen their tools for the upcoming section
playoffs.
Rush City’s latest casualty was the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars. On Feb. 22, the boys won the conference game, 55-44.
Senior center Isaac Roll finished with 13 points and four rebounds.
Andy Erickson gave the boys a lift chipping in 14 points and 7 rebounds.
Head coach Jeremy Albright noted the game was a big win for the team.
Rush City had lost to Hinckley-Finlayson Jan. 11 in overtime 55-49.
Sophomore guard Justin Bosman also added 11 points for the Tigers.
“It’s always good to get both a conference win and a sub-section win in the same game,” Albright said.
The Tigers forced the Jaguars to a mere 31 percent shooting from the floor.
“I was proud of the way we played defense,” Albright said.

Isle
Led by all-around team defense, the boys handed Isle a loss on their home court, 60-46 on Feb. 19.
Roll finished with a double-double, filling up the state sheet. He finished with 13 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.
“We made some good decisions on offense and the kids moved the ball well,” Albright said.
Seven Rush City players scored in the game.
Bosman finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
“I thought we played a great defensive game – if you are not careful,
Isle can put up a bunch of points on you in a hurry,” Albright said.
The boys end their regular season play on the road March 6 against Pine City.
