Rush City area collection to benefit RC food shelf
The Rush City Food Shelf hopes to make this a record-setting year for donations. Every year in March, Minnesota FoodShare sponsors a statewide food drive. All monetary donations and pounds of food collected through the month of March are reported to MN FoodShare. They in turn give the food shelf a check to “match” what was collected.Because of the large number of food shelves across the state, it’s not a dollar to dollar match. but the money can be used to buy other needed food items.
Food donations can be dropped at local churches or brought to the food shelf located at the community center. If you have any questions, call Carolyn Thiel at (320) 358-0903.
The Rush City Food Shelf is open Tuesdays from 2-5 p.m. and each first and third Thursday from 5-7 p.m. The food shelf Web site is www.rushcityfoodshelf.com.
