Thoughts on an election year PDF Print
To the editor:

2008 is a very important year. It is an election year. We will elect two persons who will serve two-year terms, one person who will serve a four-year term and one person who will serve a six-year term. Perhaps we should notice the difference between the Republicans and Democrats. What do we have to thank the Democrats for? The list is long - Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, R.E.A., and the Peace Corp. Then during the great Depression, WPA and CCC. President Truman was the force behind the Marshall Plan which helped the Eastern European nations get on their feet, which indirectly helped our country. A homeland for the Jews which they hadn’t had for two thousand years was due to Truman’s efforts, even though some in his cabinet opposed, thinking it would bring war. When President Clinton left office there was a surplus in the treasury. In another letter I will tell what we have to thank the Republicans for.
