The North Branch Dance Team kicked its way to success at the Henry Sibley Dance invitational Jan. 12.
The
girls recorded season highs in both the jazz and kick categories,
resulting in a 2nd place finish in jazz and a 1st place finish in kick.
Head coach Melissa Miller said it was their best performances of the year.
We
are so proud of the dancers for their accomplishments, but we still
have our work cut out for us if we plan to advance to state," she said.
On Dec. 20 the Dance Team competed with the rest of the
North Suburban conference at Benilde St. Margaret's. The girls took 6th
place in their respective divisions.
For varsity, though their placement didn't improve, the team was able to improve their score by several points.
On Jan. 5, the Dance Team competed in the Conference Championship at Chisago Lakes High School.

"Varsity
kick had their best performance of the season and it showed, with a
jump of 10 points in their score from the last meet, which moved them
up in ranks to 6th place. The varsity jazz also had the best scores of
the season, improving again by several points," Hall said.
Final
conference standings resulted in a 6th place tie between North Branch
and Chisago Lakes for both the jazz and kick divisions.
At
the conference meet, dancers Jessica Morgan and Taylaur Biebl were
named to the All-Conference team while Tammy Olson and Cassie Kenton
were named Honorable Mention.
Up next, the North Branch Dance Team will be in a non-conference competition Jan. 19 at Duluth Marshall.
Both Varsity and junior varsity will also be performing their kick at the boys basketball game in North Branch Jan. 17.
Briefly:
North Branch High School is the host of the Section 2AA finals. The meet takes place Feb. 9.
