Sooner or later, the North Branch boys basketball had to lose.
The boys were riding a five game winning streak heading into their match up against Columbia Heights on Jan. 11.
The win streak came crashing to a halt as the Hylanders gave the boys a dose of reality in a 72-64 loss.
Senior Jake Chambers led the team in scoring with 13 points on 6 of 14 from the floor.
"We
have a tendency to get sloppy and let the opposition get on a run. It's
something we have to clean up," head coach Bill Baumann said.
Irondale
In the first half both teams applied robust defensive pressure, forcing each team into turnovers.
In the final minutes, North Branch was able to keep their composure for the win.
Chambers finished with 13 points to pace the team.
Baumann said they won the game by doing what they do best.
"We
built an early first half lead and let them come back and take the lead
before half. We came out the second half and executed much better. We
held them to 16 second half points by being patient on offense and
being aggressive on the defensive end," he said.
