The North Branch girls basketball team won the Team Section Academic Award for the third time since 2000.
Head coach Dan Schindler said each team in the section submits each of their varsity player’s grade point average and team with the highest average wins.
North Branch came out on top with a 3.699 gpa for its 15 varsity players.
Schindler said the girls would use flashlights to help study on the bus during away games.
“These girls worked very hard in the classroom,” Schindler said.
The girls team won the award last in 2000 and 2001.
In addition, senior Cori Fairbanks earned academic-all state honors for her 3.896 gpa.
Schindler said seniors earn the award if they have a 3.8 or higher.
