Roger E. Stromberg, age 59, of North Branch died on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at his home.
He was born on September 23, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Hulgar and LaDoris (Magnuson) Stromberg. He grew up and received his education in Moundsview. Roger served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1970 where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He married Marcia Vierkandt at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Forest Lake on June 22, 1973. Roger worked as a mail carrier for 30 years. His hobbies and interests included motorcycling, classic country music, hunting, helping others, horseshoes, wood splitting and playing the harmonica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulgar and LaDoris Stromberg; niece, Debbie Ziemann, He is survived by his wife, Marciaj; son, Eric (Jenny Gaylord) Stromberg of North Branch; daughters; Elisa (Dale) Waters of Osceola, Wis.; Sara (Chad) Connolly of Shafer; Krista Stromberg (Mike) Jepsen of Elk River; Grandchildren, Alex, Jade, Brent, Eddie, Christian, Trinity, Logan, Tyler and Nick. Five Brothers; Richard of Chaska; Ronald (Betty) of Prior Lake; Robert (Sharla) of St. Paul; Russell (Nancy) of North Branch; Roy (Harley Rose Anderson) of Mora; three sisters; Delores Ziemann of Coon Rapids, Colleen Szabo (Tammy Byrne) of Belle Plaine and Cyndii (Frank) Stepka of New Prague and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service was held on Friday, March 28, 2008 from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in North Branch with Rev. Frank Gomes officiating.
Music was provided by Cathie Hendren and the St. Gregory Choir.
Arrangements were under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
